As your personal manager, we will advise and counsel the artist in the following area. 

  1. Selection of literary, artistic, and musical materials.
  2. Any and all matters relating to publicity, public relations and advertising
  3. The adoption of the proper format for the best presentation of the artist talents.
  4. The selection of booking agents to pressure maximum employment for the artist.
  5. The type of employment that the artist should accept and would prove most beneficial to their career.
  6. The selection and supervision of accounts and attorneys other than those used by the manager.

 

Note: Personal managers rarely travel with their artist. More often they engage and supervise at the artist expense.

Road managers: are hired to handle the numerous business matters “on the road” such as transportation, hotels, stage, sound, lighting and collection of artist money.

Personal manager: may serve as buffer to insulate the artist from unattractive offers and from request for charitable gifts and appearance. Many managers play important roles in the relationship with record companies as well as in the selection of songs and accompanist. They supervise publisher to administer songs the artist has written or in which the artist has acquired an interest. Many management agreements especially those with new artist provides for the collection of commission in stipulated increment depending upon the amount of monthly or yearly gross earning of the artist. 

Most record companies today are very hesitant about signing an artists who lacks a good management firm. They believe it just isn’t worth it to invest their time and money in an artist whose career, events, and daily activities are not thoroughly planned.
